Travelogue Part-1 Kathmandu

Day 1 - Aug 3rd 7PM

Landed in Kathmandu abt 3 hrs back and am already outta the hotel exploring..... This is such an awesome place man.... The area(Thamel) we are in is like Comm street....Just bigger.... It is truly a bargainers/tourist/backpackers paradise.... Every cafe or food place here advertises free wifi :-)
Every other store is a bargain store selling used books or junk jewelry or music/movie CDs or Nepalese handicrafts or handmade paper or green tea or organic coffee... Just awesome....
It does have it's cons but nothing v can do abt it.... It's raining dust almost literally :-) everything is covered with plastic wrap and guess what I haven't seen a better stocked supermarket than the one arnd the corner..... Everything from lindt and Belgian chocolates to Indian stuff like nutties, milky bar cereal drinks or booze or anything is available.... I dont believe I have been to a better stocked walmart... And guess wat I even got coffee which tastes exactly like the caramel macchiato in Starbucks :-)

Day 2 - Aug 4th 8PM

Today was a chilld out day cuz the group which mom is part of had an important prayer and discourse for like 4hrs from 6ish in the morning to like 12ish with breaks between the two discourses & the prayer for B'fast and coffee/tea.... So I was basically roaming the streets looking for bargains and books... And obviously the food :-) Visited a place called Cafe 4ever for lunch and tried out the "Phoren" culture of Kathmandu :-):-).... Had Pizza and Caramel Macchiato for lunch and the pizza was surprisingly good.... It was obviously different from the ones in India cuz the thickness of the crust was between deep dish and thin crust... It kinda reminded me of the pizzas from Italy cuz the base looked as if it was prepared from scratch right then [that would explain the slow service :-):-) ] Then we went to visit the "Old City" aka Bakthapur.... Decent place just not my cuppa tea...:-(  Disadvantages of being in a group of mostly oldies :-)
Clicked loads pictures[ which most likely won't see the light of the day :-)] on the whole it was a decent experience cuz it started raining while we were on the tour which led to some excitement and there were stalls everywhere with bargains and etc and it took like 3 guides 2 drivers and 1 organizer to see that everyone was with the group :-) and man are the soft drinks overpriced... I paid 50 Indian bucks for a sprite can :-( Just got back to the hotel arnd 30 mins back and currently waiting for the crowded buffet line to subside :-) Adios for now... And no I haven't learnt the Nepalese equivalent cuz they seem to speak a dialect of Hindi and everyone understands the Hindi I speak so all  parties are happy :-)

Day 3 - Aug 5th 9PM

So today was our last day in Kathmandu before the ascent begins....:-P [Thanx for that phrase B^2 :-)]
So the day began with an awesome shower :-) it was sumwer between a drizzle and a downpour.... Thanx to that our mountain flight was delayed by over an hour and even then we could only see three peaks of the supposed fifteen or so.... BUUUUTTT we got to see Everest Lhotse and Makalu.... Also got to see some awesome views of mountains outlined in clouds :-) Then came back to the hotel and went temple visiting after lunch..... Went to Pashupatinath temple and A Vishnu temple where he is on lying on a bed of snakes.... And there was also a temple which was I think swayambhunath temple or a similar name not sure of the spelling... Awesome view from there :-) That was all for today and tomorrow the adventure starts.
